FAPA Receives $24,400 Grant to Encourage Aviation Careers

Springs’ Flabob Airport Preparatory Academy (FAPA) in Riverside was awarded a $24,400 American Airlines Flight Education grant to encourage students to consider careers in aviation, specifically becoming pilots. The funding will be used to provide students with a tour of Boeing aircraft manufacturing facilities, for the purchase of remote control airplanes, for flight lessons and a tour of Coast Flight Training flight school in San Diego.
“We were excited to receive the funding, and have big plans for its use benefitting our students,” said Robin Davis, FAPA principal. It was the first grant of its kind the school has received, she noted; the school had applied for the same grant the previous year but was not selected.

FAPA serves 120 students in grades 6-12.  A new facility for the school is currently under construction at the Flabob Airport.
