Homeschool SPREE events are right around the corner.
Homeschool S.P.R.E.E.(Student Parent Regional Educational Events) events include fun, make it-take it events for 3 years old through 8th grade. This year, the homeschool parent designed workshop will be, “No Substitute for Story: The Importance of Reading Aloud to our Kids” with Jacki York.
While parents have a chance to collaborate and exchange ideas with other Homeschool parents, children 3 years old through 8th grade will extend their educational experience through a “Camp Springs” experience and socialize with their peers in a fun, educational atmosphere! Staffed by our amazing ES staff, students are bound to have a fabulous day!
Jackie York: “No Substitute for Story: The Importance of Reading Aloud to our Kids”
If you want to make sure your parental time and energy will make the biggest difference and the best impact in your child’s academic life, read aloud to them. There is no substitute for story. Long-term benefits: your child will learn to read better, think better, imagine more richly, and become a passionate and lifelong reader. More immediate rewards are making meaningful and lasting connections with your kids. In this workshop, you will discover the many benefits of reading aloud to students regardless of age, receive suggestions and tips for effectively reading aloud, and engage with ideas for making connections and developing activities designed to bring stories to life.
