Assistant Director of Learning Centers/Grant Writer
As a local resident for most of my life, I attended California State San Bernardino for both, my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. I have been in the field of education for over 25 years and have been a Teacher, a Curriculum Specialist, a Coordinator, a Principal, and a Manager of Education.
I hate to admit that I love to shop, especially for shoes, although any kind of shopping makes me happy. I enjoy going to yard sales and antique shops in search of used items that I can turn into treasures, either for myself or others. Of course, I also love to spend time with my six grandchildren, but that is not really a hobby, for me it is what makes living fun!
My absolute all time favorite book is The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams and I still read it several times a year to remind myself that you don’t have to be or look perfect, as it is the experience of the adventures that make your life who you are.
I was lucky to have a high school English teacher that made me fall in love with reading and writing. She guided and pushed me to take risks and showed me how communication through writing could be so powerful. Thank you Mrs Ostermiller!
As a youth, I won 4 medals in track and field at the Junior Olympics, but quit training once I entered high school. I was also a Registered Dental Assistant for 10 years prior to going into teaching.
