I have obtained a Master of Education Degree from Azusa Pacific University in Clinical and Educational Counseling, marking the most recent milestone in my education. I also have a bachelor’s degree in human development and minored in American Sign Language during my undergraduate years. To pay for school, I have been working in education for the past 10 years (professionally) as a guidance technician, substitute teacher, math instructional aide, interpreter for the Deaf, campus security officer, and a site facilitator. I look forward to beginning this year with Springs Charter School as a counselor.
This past year, my hobbies have been limited to work and school primarily. I greatly enjoy playing board games (both the fast-paced resolution types and the long/drawn-out types alike) with friends and family. I also find entertainment in playing video games and participating in sports. I play soccer and tennis mostly, but have played almost every sport in the common realm.
I read as much as I can whenever I am able. My friends and family know that my carrying a textbook around does not mean that I am enrolled in the corresponding course as I am known to take interest in random subjects.
This being said, my favorite author is Stephen King. Not only have I read all but a few of his works, but I own most of them as well. My favorite books include The Gunslinger (King), The Eyes of the Dragon (King), and anything from H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe.
My favorite subject is math and I excelled in math and English above other subjects in school. I like to teach math and science. Above all else, I love learning and teaching about human nature/tendency. Any subject involving interaction between people or societal expectations is fascinating to me.
I am fluent in American Sign Language. I can talk with food in my mouth without being rude! I have also taken courses in graphology have studied body language in Gestalt Therapy. Because of this, I often have a good sense of a person’s demeanor or condition before I meet them or have a conversation.
When did you start working with Springs Charter Schools?
