Enrollment Lottery Information

The lottery is held to establish the waitlist for each program and grade level when the number of students who wish to attend exceeds the charter school’s capacity. Every applicant who applies in the application window is a part of the lottery pull. The order in which applicants are pulled is used to establish the order of the waitlist. Please see below for priority groups. Available spots will be offered in order of the list.

For the 2022/23 School Year the application window will be October 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022. The deadline to be included in the 22/23 lottery is March 31, 2022 at 11:59pm.

The deadline to be included in the initial lottery for the 2021/22 school year was March 12, 2021. However, you can still submit an application as we will hold subsequent, smaller lotteries (as needed) when the current waitlists have been exhausted. Click here for the application.

Lotteries will be held for:

  • Citrus Springs (Orange County)
  • Empire Springs (San Bernardino County)
  • Harbor Springs (San Diego County)
  • Pacific Springs (San Diego County)
  • Vista Springs (San Diego County) 
  • River Springs (Riverside County)

Lottery Notifications

  • Notifications will be sent via parent email within 2 weeks following the lottery.
  • Once notified, parents will have 2 business days to accept the spot.
  • Please check your spam/junk folder often to ensure you do not miss the notification.
Priorities are outlined in each charter and are as follows:

  1. Homeless and foster youth
  2. Siblings of current students
  3. Children of currently employed Springs staff
  4. Residents of the authorizing District or County (depending on the charter)
  5. General population

Families are not required to view the lottery. The intent of the lottery is to establish the order in which spaces will be offered to students depending upon availability. During the lottery, it will NOT be announced which students have received a space. Notifications will be sent according to the process outlined above.

In order to maintain student confidentiality, staff will be pulling the enrollment lottery utilizing each student’s unique 6-digit ID number (not by name). You can find your student’s ID number here using your application confirmation number and email address.

Please note: On lottery days, we will have limited staff available to respond to inquiries. We will respond to voicemails and emails as soon as we are able.
