Students Learn about CalTrans Careers

Thirty-four high school students from Magnolia Student Center and Renaissance Valley Academy traveled to CalTrans in San Bernardino to learn about careers with CalTrans, reported Maureen Roye, director of CITE. CalTrans created a “career fair” atmosphere, she said, and students were able to talk with CalTrans staff from its different departments such as maintenance, construction, material testing, real estate, drone flying, and planning.

Magnolia “How-to”, Halloween Events

Springs’ Magnolia Academy held a “how-to” event for parents, reported Principal Jessica Holland. Parents were invited on-campus for informational sessions on Canvas for elementary, middle, and high school school, safety preparedness and Springs’ standard response protocol, PTSA, the 7th/8th-grade camp field trip, attendance for seat-based, concurrent enrollment and FAFSA help, online programs, and tips to improve reading and math fluency.

Springs Teen Competes in All Star Baseball

November 21, 2022

Springs 7th grade Magnolia Student Center student Ethan LeBreton, 13, was one of 13 baseball players selected to represent California at an all-state game in Georgia in November. He plays for an Arizona-based national travel team ranked 7th in the nation.

Magnolia Student a Gifted Artist

March 9, 2022

Springs Magnolia Student Center 10th grade student Ruben Navarro is a gifted artist. He can make a dinosaur out of “almost anything,” said his mother, Beatrice, and he has had an interest in dinosaurs from a young age. He makes other animals as well, including birds, reptiles and rodents; he watched the animated movie Ratatouille, for example, and made a rat out of clay.

Magnolia Student Center 4th Annual Blood Drive

January 14, 2022

Springs Magnolia Student Center is holding its 4th annual Blood Drive on February 18, reported Site Facilitator Susie Carpenter.  According to the Red Cross, blood supplies are at a 10-year low, with a particular shortage of universal donor type-O blood. Students age 16+ are eligible to donate; younger students are encouraged to recruit their parents to be donors.

Magnolia Says Goodbye to Long-time ACE

November 19, 2021

Springs’ Magnolia Student Center is saying goodbye to retiring long-time ACE Kimberly Lariviere, reported Principal Beverly Voechting. “Miss Kim” joined the staff in 2008, and has been most recently working in the classroom of 1st grade teacher Anna Oei. Mrs. Voechting said, “The dynamic duo are an amazing team teaching our littles how to enjoy reading, love writing and memorize math facts.”

Colleges Recruit Springs Seniors

Springs seniors participated in a College Kickoff at the Temecula and Magnolia Student Centers with students receiving SWAG from Mt. San Jacinto and Riverside City Colleges. Students learned how to apply to college, FAFSA and financial aid. Continue reading
